The Milwaukee Brewers avoided arbitration with Luis Vizcaino on Saturday, re-signing the righthander to a one-year contract.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The 26-year-old
Vizcaino made 75 appearances with the Brewers last season, posting a 4-3 record
with a 6.39 ERA. A native of the Dominican Republic, he is 11-8 with six saves
and a 4.80 ERA in 200 career games with Oakland and Milwaukee.
The Brewers also announced they did not tender a contract to righthander Jayson
Durocher, while outfielder John Vander Wal declined arbitration.
Durocher, 29, made just six appearances for Milwaukee last season and recorded an 11.05 ERA with a 2-0 record. In 45 career games, he is 3-1 with a 3.09 ERA.
The 37-year-old Vander Wal batted .257 with 14 home runs and 45 RBI in 117 games in 2003. The 13-year veteran, who also has played with Montreal, Colorado, San Diego, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and the New York Yankees, owns a .263 lifetime average with 95 homers and 426 RBI in 1,330 games.
